NOTES OF A RISING STAR
4:47 AM
Sometimes it’s hard being as intelligent and talented and beautiful as I am. Protecting myself from the leeches of this world while focusing on my personal development, getting good grades, and avoiding poverty feel like more than a full-time job. To juggle everything, I’ve come across something that has saved me an exponential amount of time in navigating this reality full of punks and posers:
Keep a shit list.
Before you decide that I’m a bitter bitch, you should know that I’m not saying this because I want you to begin a snipping spree amongst those closest to you. At the end of the day, no one is perfect and people can change.
However, there are also people you will come across who have absolutely no intention of regarding you with the respect you should feel entitled to. In fact, their purpose in your life is to test your sense of worth; and their longevity in your circle only speaks to the amount of time it took for you to understand that you will only be treated in the way that you allow.
The term shit list isn’t named after what you’d think. In the event that someone makes it on yours, this would mean that they are no longer a factor in your evolution. You have literally shitted them and the version of yourself that they lure out of your system. They are nothing more than excrement. Disgusting, I know.
With capability and forthcoming success come freeloaders, fake mentors, and Debby downers. Ideally, with your shit list, you’ll be able to avoid them more easily; leaving you with more time and energy to do whatever your heart desires. Of course, opps aren’t always the easiest to spot. Beware of the “supporters” who can’t hide the cracks in their smiles when you mention an accomplishment. Everyone knows that all shit doesn’t stink.
A shit list isn’t meant to be malicious, but a reminder of how far you’ve come in picking your people. The things you’ll find interest in and accomplish when you remove those that undermine you, both unconsciously and overtly, will surprise you.
To end, I leave you with a quote from Tupac Shakur’s “Heartz of men”.
It's a dirty game, y'all
Y'all gotta be careful about who you fuck with and who you don't fuck with
'Cause the shit get wild, y'all
Keep your mind on your riches, baby
Keep your mind on your riches
